Notes[]

As noted above, the Corsair is Valantin's flagship, and is notoriously powerful, with some of the highest stats and module space in the game. Its Special attack, the High Stream Blaster, allows for effective back-row sniping tactics, and is devastating to all but end-game bosses. Not without drawbacks, the Corsair is staggeringly expensive, and the required rank to unlock it keeps the iconic vessel out of reach for many players, leading the ship to being a trophy, rather than a feasible addition. Regardless of its difficult acquisition, the Corsair is a valuable prize and well worth the effort, should you not mind the hours of grinding it will require.

Unlock Guide[]

Crosair1

Unlocking the blueprints for the Corsair Class requires Yuri to be 1st Place in the Fame Rankings (can be checked at any spaceport under CTA -> Rankings). The blueprints will be given to you upon exiting the ranking page after becoming 1st place.

The earliest feasible moment you could get the Corsair would be in Kalymnos chapter 4 when you need to find and capture a pirate for interrogation. he has a fleet of 5 ships, which gives 64 fame and 970g when destroyed, do not melee, and just keep fighting him over and over again. My strategy for that is to grind 5000 fame a day for 5 days until you reach the 30,000 mark. By the time you get to Kalymnos you should already have over 5000 fame so you only need to grind 25,000 fame to do it. Or you could do the really hard way and do it in one go by just grinding that fight and others on increased encounter rates too.

Trivia[]

Corsair Particle Laser Bug

Prologue Corsair weapon bug

  • The Corsair itself is a shout out to the popular '70s anime space opera "Space Battleship Yamato" (known in the West as "Star Blazers"), while Valentin is a reference to the main character of Yamato 's sister series, "Space Pirate Captain Harlock".
  • Valantin's Corsair is different from the base corsair class, as it has a unique Void Gate system that the playable variant does not have.
  • The Prologue version of the Corsair has by far the highest Anti-Air, Mobility, Livability and Crew Count out of all ships in the game.
  • The Prologue version of the Corsair mistakenly claims its Particle Laser is a Solid Ammo weapon.
